Application procedure

You can apply for admission, if you hold a qualifying bachelor’s degree or another relevant degree at the same educational level.

When to apply

The Application Portal opens:
Outside EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 15 November
EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 16 January

Application deadline:
Outside EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 15 January
EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 1 March

We do not accept applications after the application deadline.

How to apply

When you apply for admission, you need to create an application in the Application Portal and upload the required documentation. This is the only way you can apply for admission.

Application fee and tuition fees

There is no application fee.

There is no tuition fee for EU/EEA/Switzerland citizens.

Citizens from outside EU/EEA/Switzerland must pay tuition fees (You can apply for a scholarship including tuition waiver if you belong to this category).

When you apply for admission to the MSc programme, you also apply for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship if you attach all required documents for the scholarship assessment in your application (see below).

Apply for admission in the application portal

Please note that you may submit a maximum of 3 applications to UCPH study programs with the same study start.

Follow your application

Once you have applied for admission, you will find application updates and receive messages from the University of Copenhagen in the application portal. When you receive a message in the application portal, a notification will be sent to the email account you have registered when submitting your application.

Please note: Some universities close student accounts once a student has completed the degree. Therefore, we recommend that you use your personal email when you create your application.

Tips and tricks for the application portal

– Use Firefox or Google Chrome as your browser when creating and submitting your application.
– Check the user guide for the application portal when you fill out your application.
– Read the FAQ where you can find answers to the most common questions concerning the application portal.
– Contact SCIENCE Student Services if you cannot find the answers, you are looking for in the FAQ.
– Contact Service desk if you have technical problems.

Check your application result

If you fulfil the admission requirements and there are seats available in the MERGED programme, we will offer you admission via the application portal.

If you are not qualified for admission, we will also let you know via the application portal.

We will be offering admission in the following periods:
– Outside EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: from late February until mid-March
– EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: from Mid-April until Primo May

So it is important that you check the application portal regularly during this period.

Accept your offer of admission

If you have received an offer of admission, you need to accept the offer. If you do not accept the offer before the deadline (which will be included in the offer of admission message), you will lose your seat in the MERGED programme. Therefore, it is important to check the status of your application regularly in the application portal.

Check your email regularly

When you receive a message in the application portal, an e-mail notification will be sent to the email account you have registered with your application. Please be aware that emails from the application portal may end up in your spam filter.

Collect documentation for your application

As part of your application, you must submit required documentation. Below, you can see which documentation you must have ready for your application:

Transcript of grades

You must upload an official transcript of grades for the qualifying degree you have completed or are currently enrolled in. The document must carry an official stamp and a signature from your university or we must be able to verify the documentation online.

If the transcript is in a language other than English

Then you must include an official English translation. An official translation must carry the stamp and signature of your educational institution.

If your educational institution cannot provide you with an official translation, an authorized translator, who stamps and signs the document, must carry out the translation.

Deadline to upload your transcript of grades:
Outside EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 15 January
EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 1 March

C.V.

You must upload an up to date version of your C.V. (curriculum vitae of a maximum of 3 pages) including a chronological overview of your academic history.

A photo is not necessary.

Proof of English language proficiency

You must document that you fulfil the requirement of English proficiency. Please find information about the language requirement here.

EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 1 March

Failure to prove your language proficiency before the deadline will cancel your application.

Copy or scan of passport/national ID

You must upload a copy or scan of your valid passport/national ID. The identification document must be in English and include all of the following information:

– Photo
– Your full name
– Date of birth
– Nationality
– Gender

If you have more than one citizenship

Should you have more than one passport (citizenship) please upload the passport which you will use to travel to Europe.

If you wish to come into consideration for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship your deadline to upload your passport copy is:
Outside EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 15 January
EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 1 March

If you apply as a self-funded student the deadline for uploading your passport copy is 1 September.

Motivational letter

A brief essay of approximately 500 words, explaining why you have decided to apply for admission to the programme and why you have prioritised the chosen mobility track. You may also elaborate on your planned career path upon completion of the Master.

Outside EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 15 January
EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 1 March

Letters of recommendation (only if you also apply for an Erasmus mundus scholarship)

Please upload two letters of recommendation. At least one of the letters must be from an academic contact (teacher, supervisor).

Deadline to upload your two letters of recommendation:
Outside EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 15 January
EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 1 March

Official diploma

Please upload your official diploma for the qualifying degree you have completed. The document must carry an official stamp and a signature from your university, or we must be able to verify the diploma online.

Deadline to upload your official diploma:
Outside EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 15 January
EU/EEA/Switzerland applicants: 1 March

If the diploma is in a language other than English

You must include an official English translation. If your educational institution cannot provide you with an official translation, an authorized translator, who stamps and signs the document, must carry out the translation.

If you have not completed your bachelor’s degree at the time of application

In this case you must document that you have completed your Bachelor’s degree no later than 20 September.

Non-required documentation

We only evaluate required documentation when assessing your application. Therefore, you must upload only the required documentation.

If you do not have all the required documentation when applying

You must upload all required documentation when you submit your application in the application portal.

Anything missing with your application?

We assess whether your application is complete by looking through the required documentation. If anything is missing, we will send you a message in the application portal and you will receive an e-mail notification that you have received a message in the application portal.

Your deadline for uploading any missing documents will be 1 week from the time we contact you. Therefore, make sure you check your e-mail regularly. Remember to check your spam filter too.

Verification of information

If we determine that you have used falsified or misleading documentation in your application, we are obliged to report it to the police, to reject your application and to cancel your admission.

No visa process before you have met all conditions of your admission

If you are a non- EU/EEA/Switzerland student we will not initiate your online visa application until you have fulfilled all requirements of your admission.
