• Citizens from a country from outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland can submit their application from 15 November. The deadline is 15 January 23:59 CET.
• Citizens from within the EU, EEA or Switzerland can submit their application from 16 January. The deadline is 1 March 23:59 CET.

There is no limit to how many Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Programmes you can apply for across universities.

The IELTS and TOEFL results are only valid if they are not older than two years counted from the application deadline. There is no limitation for validity for the Cambridge tests.

Yes, in this case, you must document that you have completed your bachelor’s degree as soon as possible and no later than 20 September.

Your documents must have an official stamp and a signature, an official digital signature or an online verification link, verifying the True Copy. Typically, your university can assist you in certifying your documents. Otherwise, we also accept signatures by embassies and official representatives or public offices, e.g. police stations.

Non-EU applicants: From March to May.

You will be informed of the result of your application regarding admission as well as the Erasmus Mundus scholarship through the application portal.

If you receive an offer of admission (and scholarship), you will have 5 days to accept the offer through the application portal.

Each assessment category (i.e. academic excellence, relevant work experience, and personal motivation) is allocated a grade between 1 and 5.

A final application grade is obtained using a weighting system whereby 60% of the final grade is allocated to academic excellence, 10% to each of the categories recommendations and relevant work experience, and finally 20% to personal motivation.

You may submit an appeal pertaining to legal issues such as legal errors and irregularities if you find that the decision does not comply with Danish legislation. You cannot appeal against the assessment of your academic qualifications made by the Assessment Committee.

An appeal must be submitted within two weeks of receiving the result of the assessment to the University of Copenhagen to Admissions@ku.dk 

An appeal on grounds of legal matters must be made in writing, and you must state exactly on which grounds you believe that the decision is not in compliance with the applicable legislation. At UCPH, students are allowed to take 60 credits in their first year.1 This is due to national legislation, as universities are publicly funded and receive payment per credit from the ministry. Taking more than 60 credits is not legally allowed.

No, students studying in Milan cannot deviate from the curriculum or choose courses not on the restricted electives list. This is due to Italian national legislation, which requires ministerial approval for any changes.

Yes, students going to Warsaw can apply to the study board for exemptions to do other courses due to different national legislation there.

Yes, students can ask the professors if they can sit in on lectures for courses they are interested in but not officially enrolled in. Professors usually agree, but students are not allowed to take the exam for these unofficial courses.

No, there are no Erasmus Mundus scholarships available for the MERGED programme in the 2027 student intake.

The Erasmus Mundus scholarship amounts to 33,600 EUR. 1400 EUR per month for up to 24 months.

The scholarship is considered a contribution to living expenses while on the programme.

You will receive the first instalment upon arrival at the University of Copenhagen – expected disposal by the end of September.

Students should send an email to merged-science@adm.ku.dk to informing the MERGED-team that it is not possible to open a European bank account due to national legislation and that they will open one upon arrival in Copenhagen.

It’s generally less than a month to open a bank account once you have a CPR number and a permanent address. However, scholarship installments are processed by the salary department at UCPH twice a month, so the timing of your bank account information will determine whether you receive the installment by the end of the current month or the end of the following month.

If the MERGED Assessment Committee assesses your application positively, you can pay the tuition fee and join the programme without a scholarship.

The tuition fee depends on your nationality.

For students from outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland, the tuition fee amounts to € 30,000 for the two-year master’s programme.

For students from the EU, EEA and Switzerland, there is no tuition fee for the two-year master’s programme.

The payment deadlines are:

• 3rd semester: 15 August
• 4th semester: 15 January

Please note that tuition fees are not refunded after 1 August. After this date, only a failed visa application will result in a refund of your tuition fee.

Monthly living expenses include rent and utilities, internet and phone subscriptions, food and household supplies, local transportation, books, and other study material, as well as sports and leisure activities.

Living expenses will vary individually depending on the cost of housing and your personal lifestyle choices. Living in Europe is estimated at EUR 1,280-1,800 per month.

Due to a number of factors, US Loans cannot be used to cover the tuition fee.

The processing time of the visa applications to Denmark may be up to 2 months. Therefore, the sooner you fulfil all conditions in your offer of admission, the sooner we can initiate your visa application. We strongly recommend that you complete your part of the visa application immediately after we have initiated it.

A delay in handing in the complete visa application could add approximately 8 weeks to the process.

If you, as a non-EU student, are offered admission to the programme, you must apply for a visa. UCPH will initiate your online visa application (ST1) to Denmark on your behalf once you are fully admitted to the programme.

We will initiate visa applications for fully admitted students in late May. You will receive an email with instructions on how to fill out your part of the application. After you have received the email, you must continue your visa application on your own.

You must pay the processing fee for your visa yourself. We cannot make any payments for your scholarship in advance to cover travel, visa fees, etc.

You will also receive information from your host university  for your second yea r in time for you to apply for a visa in the respective host country.

Instructions on the visa application procedures are available on the websites of the respective host countries.

The Danish visa is sufficient. Non-EU students who wish to remain in Italy after graduation will have to apply for a job seeking residence permit (Permesso Attesa Occupazione).

The Danish visa does not suffice for a second year of study in  Poland; a separate visa is needed. The student’s visa for Poland is a Type D national visa valid for up to one year and is required for entry into Poland for studies.

The student’s visa for Denmark is also for a separate stay and does not allow long-term residence or study in Poland, which is a member of the Schengen Area.   

Students admitted  to a double degree will automatically receive a residence permit, including a 3-year  job-seeking period after graduation. It will not require a separate application.

Students can stay in Italy for job-seeking after graduation for 12 months.

Non-EU students must apply for a job seeking residence permit (Permesso Attesa Occupazione).

After graduating, a student can stay in Poland for a maximum of 9 months to look for a job by applying for a temporary residence permit for graduates. This permit is granted once and must be applied for immediately after graduation while the student’s current legal status is still valid.

After this 9-month period, if a job is secured, you will need to apply for a different type of permit, such as a temporary residence and work permit.

The Danish language course is offered by an external provider (UC Plus), not the University of Copenhagen, and typically takes place in the evenings. Students can find information on how to register online on “How to MSc”, module 2 – Living and studying in Denmark.

The study start test is a bureaucratic invention to identify “no-shows” and minimize financial losses for the university due to dropouts. It has nothing to do with content, and students cannot fail it.

Course materials are usually distributed via the learning management system (course websites) as soft copies (academic papers, book chapters). Access depends on the individual professor, with some opening access a few days before and others a few weeks in advance. Students can try writing to the course responsible teacher to request a provisional list of readings in advance.

Do students have access to the university library online?
At UCPH, students likely have access to the online university library using their KU username. They can log on to their study information on KUnet and find access under “Library” or “IT and Facilities on Campus.”

In general, each course syllabus includes a list of recommended literature sources that students can use to best prepare for the subject.

At the University of Warsaw, students gain access to university systems after completing their matriculation process. Full access to library facilities and other educational spaces is granted from October 1st, once students receive their student ID card and confirm the university oath.

The planned destinations for the Block 3 field trip at UCPH are currently Nepal, Malaysia (Borneo), and Kenya, though these are still being finalized. The decision on destinations will be made and communicated in September to allow students to book cheaper flights. Students receive a €1000 grant for the trip. There will be a meeting where students can choose their preferred destination, and generally, over 90% get their first priority. Students will be mixed with other students in interdisciplinary groups for fieldwork.

For each 7.5 ECTS course, students usually have three half-days of teaching per week. The teaching style often involves exercises and discussions rather than just lectures.

There is no universal rule, but typically the students (during the first semester at the University of Milano) are offered classes during four days a week. The second semester is free from compulsory teachings.

Your host university will assist you in finding accommodation.  You will automatically receive further information on accommodation at the end of June for your study period at UCPH.

You must organise the booking and cost the cost of travel yourself.

Finding accommodation, especially in the private market, can be challenging and expensive. It’s recommended to research Housing Foundation options in advance as cheaper housing goes quickly. To get a CPR number, students need a permanent residence lease.

The student insurance covers travel globally, including personal travel throughout Europe and field trips. It also covers a period before study start and after studies finish. Students will also be covered by National Health Security in the countries where they live.
